Some of our Ministries...

Homer United Methodist connects to community life in many ways, including:

The Homer Community Food Pantry which is hosted at the church. Every Monday almost 200 people come to receive Food and other emergency assistance. On Mondays, the Food Pantry also takes food to several other distribution points (including one delivery by air to Seldovia across Kachemak Bay!).

Thursday High School Lunches, is a ministry

to High School students. Different churches

from the community take turns hosting a

lunch gathering for as many as 100 students.

Small Group Fellowship Gatherings

Sponsored by our Nurture Committee, we sign-up for small group fellowship at several times throughout the year. The groups meet monthly for four to six months to carry out our purpose of getting to know each other better as a church family. Currently our small groups include the following opportunities: Knitting, Pot Lucks in homes (groups of 6 to 8), Movie Discussion groups (groups of 6 to 8 who discuss recent movies as a way to share about faith and grow in friendship).

Youth Confirmation

We offer this formative ministry for youth of grades 7 through High School. Our time together is structured in various ways depending on the current year's group. Meant to be a "basics of the Christian faith", this small group process helps provide the necessary information for deciding about Christian discipleship and full membership in a United Methodist Church. Youth Confirmation can be a wonderful time of spiritual growth. A special Confirmation Sunday is a highlight of the church year!

United Methodist Women (UMW)

Our UMW is one of the most active ministry groups of the church. It is open to women of all ages and child care is arranged so everyone can participate.

Troop 555 Boy Scouts

Homer United Methodist is the chartering organization for Boy Scout troop 555. Our supportive involvement in Scouting is one of the ways we connect to the greater Homer community.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

Held during the summer (most years), this is a ministry for elementary aged children of the church and community. Crafts, music, learning and fun are the hallmarks of a week of VBS.

Keep checking back for more information about the many ministries of the church.
